The Story Behind Matibo
Matibo was born from the vision of my mother—my role model, my inspiration, my rock. She was a teenage mother, a high school dropout, yet she taught me from an early age that determination, grit, and an insatiable thirst for education were the keys to a fulfilling life. She never let circumstances define her; instead, she relentlessly pursued knowledge, built meaningful relationships, and lifted up everyone she could along the way, rewriting her own story with every step she took.
From a young mother of two by the age of 18 to a Computer Engineering graduate when her second daughter was completing a PhD, her journey was nothing short of extraordinary. By the time she left us at the age of 53, she was originating her PhD dissertation in Environmental Science, proving that learning and growth have no limits. But her dreams extended far beyond herself—she was planning to open a training school, a place where people with stories like hers could have a second chance at life through education. That school was going to be called MATIBO.
To honor her legacy and the impact she had on my life and so many others, I chose to name my Consulting and Coaching business Matibo—in memory of my mother, MAThIlde mamBO. Her resilience, her vision, and her unwavering belief in the power of education live on through this work.
